AMS Band now meets on Fridays for an hour practise session at
The Catholic Church Hall in Ashley (The Oddfellows Hall) ,

We start at 6:30pm each week.

Our music is suitable to a small ensemble of mainly woodwind and strings and features a wide range of styles including: 16C ensemble music, contemporary classical and jazz style pieces.

AMS Composition Challenge 2024

The Challenge:

Write a piece of music around the theme of a "TRAIN" - this could be inspired by the idea of a train journey or a railway station etc.

Ways to Enter:

1. A recording of your music. (PREFERRED)

2. Written notation.

3. A recording and notation.

Please note:

● A recording could be an actual performance on chosen

instrument/s or voice/s etc. ( mp3/wav) or an mp3 track created

by computer synthesiser software.

● Written out notation could be handwritten or printed out

from computer software.

● To use the online entry form click here or s end entry by post,

email or give to any AMS teacher

Compose your own music!
Announcing our big project for the Summer and Early Autumn.

Part 1 is a composition workshop presented by Dominic Hawley (renowned composer whose music has been performed in major cathedrals in the UK and Europe) and Philip Wigham (rhythm and percussion expert and inventor of electronic musical instruments) - this will be on June 2nd at 2:30pm - 3:30pm.
Part 2 will be a composition challenge - write and submit your own piece of music for adjudication; prizes include the AMS Composition Challenge Trophy. This will take place at a date in early Autumn. The whole project is open to all students at AMS and anyone interested from outside the music school.

Our Christmas pupils' recital was cancelled in December due to snow; we now have a new date for a re-arranged recital and this will be February 18th 2024 at 12:30 at Whitmore Village Hall. We hope all the musicians that had been due to perform in December will take part at this re-arranged concert date.
